The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced the official fuel price adjustments, which will take effect on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Oil prices fell in March, largely driven by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs and ongoing trade tensions. However, by the end of the month, prices edged back up to around $71 per barrel from a high of around $75 per barrel. Despite the market volatility, the rand remained resilient.
This combination led to a significant drop in fuel prices, although the effect was partly counterbalanced by an increase in taxes.
