Attacq's eco-friendly marvel in Waterfall City

Attacq's Nexus 1 building, located in Waterfall City, has attained the esteemed Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification, also serving as the headquarters for the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).

EDGE, introduced by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in 2014, empowers developers worldwide to evaluate environmental impact and make informed decisions in favor of green building practices.

This certification marks a significant achievement for Attacq, as Nexus 1 becomes not only the first building in South Africa to receive Green Star Certification but also secures EDGE certification through the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

Moreover, the collaboration with Nedbank CIB represents a groundbreaking milestone, as it signifies the first instance of a bank partnering with a developer and acting as an EDGE Expert in green building certification.

The Nexus 1 building spans some 7,363 square meters and stands as Attacq's inaugural Net-Zero Carbon Level 1 development. This accomplishment aligns with global benchmarks established by the World Bank's IFC, achieving an outstanding 88% on-site energy saving.

Waterfall City's strategic location adjacent to the N1 highway between Johannesburg and Tshwane has attracted numerous global blue-chip companies, including DP World, Cisco, Dell, Novartis, Pfizer, Ericsson, Dimension Data, and Accenture.

Its accessibility within Gauteng makes it an appealing destination for modern light and high-tech industrial, logistics, and distribution businesses seeking efficient and sustainable buildings.

Nedbank CIB Property Finance's commitment to sustainability dates back to 2021 when it partnered with the IFC to issue a R1 billion green residential development bond, emphasizing its dedication to supporting EDGE-certified residential projects, particularly those focused on affordable housing.
